Fifth Avenue & Restaurants
Fifth Avenue is Playa del Carmen's main avenue where you can find a large selection of restaurants, bars, shopping, and much more. Fifth Avenue runs parallel to the beaches of Playa, and in between most blocks you can see the turquoise shore line while strolling down the pedestrian only street. Fifth avenue is foodie paradise. For under $10 you can fill up on a few tacos, or if you're more of a carnivore you may like one of the many and delicious Argentinian steakhouses. Playa del Carmen has an abundance of outstanding vegan restaurants, which works well for the Kosher crowd as well. Once your trip is booked The Beach Planner will email you a detailed list of many restaurants to choose from, and a reservation will be made on your behalf.
Transportation
Getting around this beach town is a breeze. Taxis are everywhere, and cheap! A $6 cab (which is about 110 pesos) will take you clear across town. There are no Ubers in Playa, but you don't need it. Take a step onto the street and a taxi will magically appear. Bicycles are another great way to get around town. A lot of hotels and condos come with 2 bikes, or you can easily rent them. Transportation from the airport is the most expensive form of transportation you'll experience. My partnering transportation company has extremely competitive prices. Included in the price is a private car, meet and greet at the airport with a sign that has your name, cold beers and water for the ride, and a professional driver who is native to the area.

Central Playa
Just a few streets back from the bustling of Fifth Avenue you will discover the charming neighborhoods of Playa del Carmen. This is where you will find where many locals live, as well as many luxury condo rentals. A short walk from the beach and around the corner from many quaint cafés and shops, you'll find yourself in central Playa. There is a super Walmart, many grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, and plenty of fruit and vegetable markets where you'll find a selection of the freshest produce you'll ever taste.
Playacar
Playacar is an upscale, gated community with much to offer. Here you will come across beautiful landscapes, a golf course, tennis courts, and luxury homes. Playacar is located on the south side of Playa del Carmen and is walking distance to 5th Avenue and many bars and restaurants. Playacar's beach is one of the most beautiful in the area.
Street Art
It is very rare to walk along the streets of Playa del Carmen and not notice a vibrant mural to stop and admire. Street art is everywhere, and has given the streets of Playa an artsy flavor to the lively neighborhood. Every evening on 16th Street between 5th and 10th Avenues, you will find Playa del Carmen's ART FAIR, displaying easel after easel in a long row of some very talented artists.
